Top 7 things to know about the Micromax Canvas Infinity
Since the entry of Chinese smartphone brands like Xiaomi and Lenovo, Indian smartphone brands like Micromax, Lava, Intex, etc., have been facing a tough competition and quite frankly they have failed to match up with their Chinese competitors.
However, Micromax since the start of 2017 has launched quite a few smartphones and from its on-going launches, it seems that Micromax is finally stepping up their game to get back on the ongoing competition.
After its release today Micromax launched another new smartphone; Canvas Infinity. The Canvas Infinity isn’t like the other Micromax smartphone which they have launched this year.
But from its look, it will remind you of another smartphone which is the Q6 from LG, which was launched a few weeks ago.
The Canvas Infinity will be available online via Amazon, and the company has priced the device at Rs. 9,999, which is quite low considering the fact that the pricing on the body is around Rs 13.
Anyways if you are interested in getting the device, then here are the top 7 things to know about the Micromax Canvas Infinity.
#7. Android Oreo update
When it comes to getting future updates then they are not many Micromax devices that you can find that will be getting the Android O update, well this time around, during the launch event, Micromax stated that the Canvas Infinity will be getting the Android Oreo update in the coming months.
However, they haven’t given any specific time frame, so buyers may need to wait up to November or December till they start getting the Android Oreo 8.0 on the Canvas Infinity.
#6. Dedicated MicroSD card slot
Smartphones having hybrid card slot has gotten more common, whereas smartphone having dedicated microSD card slot have gotten kind of rare, which many users don’t like it all. Well, with the Canvas Infinity you will be getting a dedicated microSD card slot, through which you’ll be able to expand the memory up to 128 GB.
#5. Camera Interface
Micromax over time has done some significant improvement in their custom Android skin. As a result, now you get a pretty good camera interface that comes with a good set of modes, which has been included at the front and the back camera interface.
Due to the presence of portrait, beauty, HDR modes, you can take some pretty good selfies with a pretty good amount of detailing, and the color saturation seems to be quite accurate, which ultimately is good news for those selfie lovers.
Battery life has become one of the major concerns, sadly the Canvas Infinity despite having a 5.7-inch display comes with a 2980 mAh battery, so when it comes to providing a good battery life then the Canvas Infinity would hardly be able to give two days of backup.
But if you are a moderate user, then may be you will be able to squeeze two days of battery life, but at the end of the day, there are other smartphones in the price segment which comes with a better battery.
As you know, the Canvas Infinity comes with an efficient Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor along with 3 GB of RAM.
The good is the device does offer a good multitasking experience, although, we would have appreciated Micromax if they could have used the Snapdragon 430 or 435 chipset in this device.
Overall, while jumping in and out of apps you will not face much lags or shutters.
The Canvas Infinity may be a value for money smartphone but it isn’t a good option when it comes to gaming. Especially if you are a heavy gamer.
Games like Dead Trigger 2, Riptide GP2 runs on this device pretty smoothly without any kind of frame drops, but when you move to games like Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 5, Nova 3, etc., then those games barely run without any kind of lags, even if you play at the lowest settings.
In total, the Canvas Infinity is not a good gaming smartphone considering the fact it comes with a Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor and an Adreno 306 GPU.
Micromax did surprise everyone with the Canvas Infinity, even though it looks quite similar to the LG Q6, but given the fact that it comes with a 16:9 screen ratio thereby making a display a bezel-less display does indeed make the smartphone a good option for the price tag of Rs 10K.
Because if you give a there are only select few smartphones available in the market that comes with such bezel-less display, and out of all these smartphones, the Canvas Infinity happens to be the most affordable one.
However, there are few things which you must know about the 5.7-inch display. First of all, you don’t get a full HD display, which is disappointing considering the fact that it comes with a huge 5.7-inch display, instead, you get a display which is slightly better than HD.
Secondly, unlike the Q6 which comes with free screen replacement policy, the Canvas Infinity doesn’t come with such warranty policy hence, in case you end up damaging the screen during the warranty period, you will need to spend money out of your own pocket to get it fixed.
