Top 7 things to know about Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
At the start of 2016, it was looking like Samsung was going to dominate the market like it did last year, with the launch the Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge, Samsung was making the headlines.
But things changed completely when the Note 7 was launched later this year, don’t get us wrong, the Note 7 is a great smartphone, but ever since the Note 7 came into limelight due to the battery exploding issues, multiple countries have banned these smartphone from carrying it in an Aeroplane. Fast forward, Samsung had to stop the production of Galaxy Note 7.
The tech giant was getting a tough competition in the budget segment, and to counter it, last year, Samsung came up with the Galaxy J series, out of which, the J7 came out to be the best smartphone, and to continue the same success story, Samsung this year launched Galaxy J7 2016 edition. However, Samsung recently launched an upgraded version of the J7 2016 edition and named it as Galaxy J7 Prime. The J7 Prime is currently priced at Rs 18,000 is available in Snapdeal, Amazon, & Flipkart. Therefore, in this post, we are going to talk about the top 7 things, which you should know about this device.
So, here are the top 7 things which you definitely know if you are thinking of buying this smartphone.
1.Inaccurate fingerprint sensor
This has to be the biggest upgrade Samsung has added in the Galaxy J series, both the Galaxy J7 Prime & J5 Prime sports a fingerprint sensor placed underneath the home button, the fingerprint sensor is fast but it isn’t that quick, and the fingerprint sensor isn’t that accurate, hence, sometimes unlocking the device can be quite tricky so you may need to tap on the fingerprint sensor multiple times.
2.Poor gaming performance
The Galaxy J7 is considered one of the best gaming smartphone available in the budget segment, however, the gaming performance of the J7 Prime will completely change your perception, the device fails to handle all kinds of heavy games like Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 5, NFS: Most Wanted, etc, now the big reason behind this disappointing performance is the full HD display, and the Mali GPU, which could have been more powerful to the one used in the J7 Prime.
The J7 Prime is the first smartphone from the J7 family to feature a full HD display, but it’s really disappointing to see the elimination of the Super AMOLED display, instead of using a Super AMOLED display, Samsung has used an IPS LCD display that comes with 2.5D Corning Gorilla glass. Nevertheless, the screen quality is good, the color reproduction seems to be quite accurate, but the viewing angles aren’t that good, at different viewing angles, color seems to fade away, and the display becomes quite dull.
When it comes to hardware, the Galaxy J7 Prime houses the powerful Exynos 7870 octa-core processor, in fact, this is the same processor, which Samsung has used in the Galaxy J7 2016 edition, the processor is getting supported by 3 Gigs of RAM, and comes with 16/32 GB internal memory, which can be expanded up to 256 GB via microSD card.
Now, if you are some who uses a lot of apps then we would recommend you to go with the 32 GB variant because most of the apps can be moved to the microSD card.
Samsung has also skipped some important sensors like Gyroscope, Compass & Ambient, now if you are a gamer then this is certainly not a good thing.
The budget smartphones of Samsung are mostly criticized due to this poor built quality, so to change that Samsung has done improvement due to which the Galaxy J7 Prime flaunts a metal body, which also makes the back a bit slippery, nevertheless, the metal body gives the device a premium feel.
Another change that Samsung has done is the placing of the speakers, instead of the placing the speaker at the back or at the bottom, Samsung has placed the speaker on the right-hand side panel. However, the sound production isn’t that loud.
6.Memory management issues
Many might think that the Galaxy J7 Prime will handle heavy multitasking as it houses a powerful Exynos processor and 3 Gigs of RAM, but you will be disappointed to know that whenever you open 4-5 apps at a time and try to open one app after a while, the app reloads, so if you are downloading a file then it might be get stopped as the application initially reloads when you move out of it and then open it again.
The 20K segment is a very competitive segment, smartphone companies like Lenovo, Vivo, Xiaomi, etc, are dominating in this price segment. As you know, the Galaxy J7 Prime comes with a 3300 mAh battery, the battery backup is good, however, Samsung could have got an edge if they would have offered fast charging but sadly Samsung didn’t, which is another setback.
