Microsoft to end free Windows 10 upgrade program by the end of December 2017

Microsoft faced a lot of criticism when Windows 8 was launched, however, that all faded away when Windows 10 came out in 2015.

As of now, there are more than 500 million computers are running on Windows 10, in fact, Microsoft’s latest OS has become 4 times more popular than Apple’s Mac OS.

During the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft also started the free upgrade program, which allowed all the existing Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 users to upgrade their OS to Windows 10 for free of cost.

Now this was  a masterstroke from Microsoft, which initially increased the popularity of Windows 10.

However, the free upgrade offer was valid for 1 year and was supposed to end by 27th July 2016, but for some reason, Microsoft hasn’t really ended the free upgrade program.

The company has specified that Windows users who are running Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 will be still able to get the free upgrade program if they do it by 31st December 2017.

Even after 31st December, you will still be able to upgrade to Windows 10 but it won’t be free anymore, you’ll need to pay around $ 70-80 dollars for it.

And for those who are using Windows 7, you must know that Microsoft will be ending the support for Windows 7 by 2020.

So, if you are planning to upgrade to Windows 10 then this is the correct time to do it.
